Mindfulness may be considered as paying attention to what “is” with openness and receptivity.
In this training, educators will explore what this means for adults and children, identify common teaching strategies that promote mindfulness, the brain benefits of such strategies, and the difference between mindfulness and mindlessness as it applies to learning and development.
I will dispel the myths that mindfulness is a religious practice or “just meditation,” and instead offer research that suggests mindfulness promotes school readiness for preschoolers and school success for children of all ages.
Participants will experience what it feels like to be mindful and discover how learning may actually impede both the child and the adult’s ability to attend to what “is” with openness and receptivity.
This training includes theory, practical strategies and experiential learning. It may be adapted for educators serving children ages pre-K through high school.
